About the Barn

Inspired during a bike trip through rural Vermont, owners Luca and Kathy Gianturco designed their timber frame barn using massive white pine beams from Maine and recycled Oak trees, which came from the property where the barn sits.

The timber framed barn is the center of activity at the nursery, and is often the site of lectures and classes.

The beam connections were made using wooden pegs, just as New England and European barns were constructed many years ago.

The high ceilinged barn houses an array of gifts, accessories, bulbs, seeds and tools.

The barn is 12,000 square feet and the ceiling soars to 50' at the cupola. The frame was raised with the help of two timber framers from Vermont.

 The Barn is the center of activities at Scottsdale Nursery in Alpharetta, GA.

Garden accessories, hats, tools, bulbs and seeds are arrayed in the indoor gift shop, where visitors can stroll.
