Last weekend, was a great weekend here at Scottsdale Farms. The rainy weather didn't keep folks from coming into the nursery to learn from our guest speaker Joe Lamp'l. Joe is a syndicated columnist, and was host to two very popular series on the DIY Network and PBS. He is currently the executive producer and host of the award winning series, "Growing a Greener World" which is shown on PBS in 48 states. Joe recently moved to Milton and shared some of his vast garden knowledge with us. He spoke of the importance of placing the right plant in the right place, creating great soil, composting and critter control.
After Joe's presentation, many of our attendees and customers stopped by the Garden Center for Customer Appreciation Day. Luca and his daughter "Kacky" took over the grill and cooked hot dogs for everyone!
We'd like to thank Joe and all of our customers who braved the elements and made last weekend super!
This week we have two Easter Egg decorating classes, and an Easter Egg hunt all week. Please see the Events calendar for more information.
We wish you a Happy Easter and look forward to a great spring!

This past Saturday we had beautiful weather and one of our favorite speakers, Walter Reeves. He discussed new plant introductions, and overall winners for our Southern landscapes, answered questions and gave his personal tips to quite a large crowd.

Thanks to our loyal and new customers for making time to stop in for this event.
Many of you also took advantage of the beautiful weather this Sunday, St. Patrick's Day, to enjoy a free green mint milk shake at Bella Luna Café.

Stop in and Say Hello!
As Scottsdale Farms enters its 14th year, I would like to dedicate our Spring Calendar of Events to my mother, Rita Maria Rosaria Cacciapuoti Gianturco. She died on February 28th from pancreatic cancer. Once diagnosed, doctors estimated she had about 3 months to live and suggested she do chemotherapy, thinking it may extend her life about a month. She declined their suggestion, instead choosing quality of life and natural methods to treat her illness.
Mamma always inspired me to do what made me happy. When I was in college, she encouraged me to start my Christmas tree business, which has been in continuous operation for 32 years. In my 30's, I told her about my dream to start a garden center. While others said it was a bad idea, mamma suggested that I do my homework and chase my dream. She softly encouraged me that if I worked hard and loved what I did, Scottsdale Farms would be a success.
I will miss her warm smile and spontaneous visits to the garden center, oftentimes bringing me a homemade Italian lunch. Fourteen months after mamma's diagnosis, she died just as she would have wanted – with both of her sons at her side holding her hands. She is now with God, but her memory and loving spirit will always continue here. I appreciate all of you who have offered your condolences.
As we prepare to enjoy God's spring, I would like to thank our Nancy Trivett for her hard work and enthusiasm in planning our Spring Calendar of Events. I told Nancy that she has put together the best lineup we have ever seen. We hope you enjoy the following activities that have been planned for you.
As always, the Scottsdale Farms family of employees appreciates you and your loyalty and we look forward to continuing to serve you, our valued customer.
Sincerely,
